    Description

1990 Disney Lady & The Tramp "Beautiful Night" Animation Cell Original Reproduction. Condition is Used. Original owner. Shipped Fedex.
    Appraisal Notes:
Long sold-out limited edition cel from the famous "Bella Notte" moment, as the dogs share a spaghetti dinner. The cel was hand-painted by the Disney Ink and Paint Department using archived original 1955 animation drawings to assemble the cel. The edition was small and was an instant sell-out. Beautiful images of 5" and 6". Cel has a Disney seal, and is on a printed background, for presentation purposes. Matted with a large opening of 11.5" x 15.5", and framed with Plexiglas. These nicely framed and packaged Cells were all the rage in the 90's and although they were limited in nature, the studios would produce many thousands of these over the decade with different images limited from one to many hundreds. In the late 80's to early 2000's Prints, Cells, Lithographs and Serigraphs where in high demand and studios rushed to get these out in limited quantities to supply the likes of Warner Brothers/Disney stores around the globe as well as art gallery's who opened up a new customer base. Unfortunately the market has softened considerably since then, and whilst some galleries have a client base that might pay their higher prices, the open market price will reflect the abundance of these in the marketplace, with only the nicest and scarcest commanding prices that have appreciated over the years. What you have here is more desirable that the standard reproduction cell, or litho, given that it has original hand painting to all aspect, directly to the cell, but it is a reproduction nevertheless. It is worth noting that an original 1955 cell featuring an almost identical scene sold for ,000 at public auction a few years ago. In a specialist auction, with caters for Disney items, you may be surprised by the level of interest, but I have been cautious in my pricing and have averaged out what i would expect it to fetch in a non specialist open auction.
